My Photos: Jordan -- Jerash

Around 300BC, this site, known then as Gerasa, was where many veterans of the armies of Alexander the Great were given land to settle.  By the 1st century BC, it was a thriving metropolis with a forum, hippodrome, theaters, baths, and temples to Zeus and Artemis.
