     At one point in history, it is believed that between 80 and 100 towers stood in Bologna. Today, the 2 most prominent still standing are known as the Two Towers. They are named the Asinelli Tower and the Garisenda Tower after the families who had them built in the 11th century.
The Garisenda Tower was originally approximately 197 feet tall, but has been lowered due to its lean. The Asinelli Tower stands approximately 318 feet tall.    498 steps to the top
