Abduction of Helen by Theseus

The largest floor mosaic in Europe is found in this ancient house at Pella, The House of the Abduction of Helen, named for that mosaic.  It dates to the late 4th century BC.  The main panel of this mosaic measures over 27' long x 9' tall, and depicts the story of the abduction of Helen by Theseus.   It is surrounded by a meander border and a field of black and white urn-shaped diamonds.
